1-to-1 Nursery Leadership Support Session

Leading a nursery can feel surprisingly isolating. You may have a whole team around you, but as the manager, there are often decisions, concerns and pressures that ultimately sit with you.

Sometimes you need someone outside the setting — someone you can speak openly with, who understands the sector but can also bring a fresh, objective perspective.

That is what this session is for.

A private, one-to-one 45-minute consultation with Jayne Renshaw — Experienced Early Years leader and education professional with 20 years of experience across the sector. I have also worked within the inspection process so I know precisely what inspectors are looking for, what trips settings up, and — more importantly — how to fix it before it costs you your grading. I am approachable and friendly and here to pass on my knowledge and support.

Think of me as your critical friend: someone who will listen, ask the right questions, offer an honest perspective and help you work through challenges without judgement. Whether you need reassurance, a fresh pair of eyes or support deciding what to do next, this is a confidential space to think things through with someone outside your setting.

I will then email a brief summary of what we discussed that you can refer to.

• A child you are concerned about — development, behaviour, SEND or safeguarding
• Practice and provision — an objective perspective on what is working and what could improve
• Documentation and systems — identifying what is useful and what could be simplified
• Self-evaluation and improvement planning — exploring strengths, priorities and realistic next steps
• Simply talking it through — sometimes you already know the answer; you just need the right person to help you find it

How it works

Sessions are delivered via Zoom or Google Meet at a time that suits you. Before your session, you will receive a short form so I can understand what you would like to focus on and arrive prepared.

Afterwards, you will receive a brief written summary of the key points discussed and any agreed next steps.

Who this is for

Nursery owners, managers and Early Years leaders who would benefit from independent, experienced support outside their own setting.

You do not need to be struggling or preparing for an inspection. Sometimes good leaders simply need a trusted critical friend — someone who understands the role, challenges your thinking when needed and helps you move forward with clarity.
